Work Permit (General & Entertainment Industry)
What do I need to be eligible?
Must be at least 14 years old
Have a 2.5 GPA on the 10 or 20 Week Report Card (whichever is most recent)
Have no more than 15 full or partial day absences
Not have any Do-Over Tasks with Mr. Tyni
Who do I see to obtain a work permit?
Please speak to Ms. Barba or Ms. Torres in the College and Career Center, Room 112.
When requesting the work permit, the STUDENT must bring the following:
- Completed Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit (B1-1) form- make sure that the parent and the employer have signed the form- you can download the form by clicking the following link: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/ct/we/documents/b1-1frm.doc
NOTE: ALL SIGNATURES ON THE WORK PERMIT APPLICATION MUST BE ORIGINAL AND WET, INCLUDING THE EMPLOYER'S SIGNATURE. A WORK PERMIT REQUEST WILL BE DENIED IF ANY OF THE SIGNATURES ARE STAMPED AND/OR PHOTOCOPIED. - A current ID card (i.e. school, DMV, passport)- CHECK CASHING ID CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!!!!!
- Birth date proof (i.e. birth certificate, ID with birth date on it, official school record with birth date on it)
Work Permits may be revoked!
If evidence is shown to the satisfaction of the issuing authority that the schoolwork or health of the minor is being impaired by the employment, that authority may revoke the permit EC 49116(c)

- Excessive absences
- Tardies
- Unsatisfactory Work Habits and/or Cooperation
- The grades of the student become worse due to employment (Education Code 49116, Education Code 49164, Labor Code 1300)
