Community Colleges:
- Apply as soon as they open or before March 1st
- Apply online or hard copy if the deadline has passed
- For California Community Colleges, apply online: Apply CCC (For out-of-state schools, check their website)
- No transcripts or test scores needed
- No essay or application fee
California State Universities:
- Apply October 1 - November 30
- Apply online: CSU Mentor
- Transcript required
- SAT OR ACT required
- No application essay or additional information needed
- Application Fee: $55 or fee waiver
University of California:
- Application available starting August 1
- Apply August 1 - November 30 (Can't submit until November 1)
- Apply online: UC Application
- Transcript required
- SAT OR ACT required - 2 SAT Subject Exams recommended
- 4 Short Answer statements and activities, awards, volunteer service, and work experience needed
- Application fee: $70 or fee waiver
Private/Independent or Out of State Universities:
- Deadlines vary: Depending on Early Action, Early Decision, and Regular Decision
- Apply online: Common App, Coalition App, Universal College App, or on the school's website
- Need your transcript (usually sent by Ms. Barba)
- SAT OR Act usually required
- Personal statement, activities, awards, volunteer service, and work experience included with the application
- Need 2 letters of recommendation: One from Ms. Barba (counselor) and the other from an academic teacher
- Need Secondary School Report from Ms. Barba (counselor)
- Application Fee: Varies by school or fee waiver

- Scholar Aid - Scholarship search program that provides a large database
- Good Call - Simple scholarship search resource that does not require a log in or personal information. You choose the filters and they identify scholarship information, including how difficult the application is and how competitive the scholarship might be
