Dear VAAS Students, Families, and Community Members,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences!

My name is Melanie Badgen, and I’m thrilled and truly honored to join this incredible community as your new Principal. I join this vibrant and creative community with a deep appreciation for the unique SPIRIT of VAAS and a strong commitment to fostering academic excellence by emphasizing arts and science integration through project-based learning and student growth.

With each new school year comes the opportunity for a fresh start—one filled with potential, purpose, and promise. As we begin this journey together, I want to assure you that our top priority remains the success and well-being of every student. Whether in the classroom, on the stage, or through service and leadership, we are dedicated to cultivating an environment where students can thrive and truly discover their passions.

VAAS has a rich tradition of creativity, innovation, and excellence. I am eager to partner with our talented staff, supportive families, and motivated students to build on that legacy and continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Together, we will continue creating a school culture that reflects the strengths and aspirations of everyone who walks through our doors.

If you have friends or family members who are interested in having their students attend VAAS, we will be conducting school tours throughout the Fall Semester. Those who are interested in attending one of these tours can sign-up through the website or call our Main Office at 818-832-7751 to reserve a spot.

To our returning students and families—welcome back! And to those new to our VAAS family—welcome home. I can’t wait to meet you, hear your stories, and work together to make this school year one to remember.
