About Mrs. Montsinger

Hello! My name is Kimberly Montsinger, and I am the new Math Instructional Coach. I am excited to be part of an amazing school community here at VAAS!

I was born and raised here in the San Fernando Valley attending Los Angeles Unified School District schools, and now my children are as well. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UCLA. As a psych major, I was interested in Criminal Psychology and took classes related to Psychology and Law. From this  I was introduced to an internship opportunity working with LAPD’s Jeopardy program, where I was a mentor/tutor for at-risk teens. During this experience, I developed a passion for working with children and shifted my career goals to pursue a career in education. I then went on to earn two master’s degrees. My first  in Secondary Education, and I then went on to earn a degree in Curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis on Math Education, from the University of Phoenix.

I have worked in the education field for over 20 years ranging from Kindergarten to College Students and Adults, and I am dual-credentialed in both English and Math. In addition to teaching students, I have worked as a University Instructor at Cal State Los Angeles in their Early Start Program, as an AVID Trainer for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, and as a Math Facilitator for LAUSD’s Division of Instruction and Local District Northwest.

When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family. I also love crafting, spending time outdoors, cooking and baking, learning new things, traveling, listening to music (all genres), and reading mystery novels.
