About Mrs. Lagresa

Hello! My name is Lorena Lagresa and I teach Spanish. I have been with VAAS since 2018 and have taught Spanish 1, 2, and 3 as well as Spanish for Native Speakers 1 and 2. I graduated with a B.A. in Spanish Language and Culture and a Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language from California State University Northridge. I continued at CSUN to receive my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. After a short break, I went back to CSUN and earned a Masters in Spanish Literature along with my Single Subject Teaching Credential. After another break, I went back to CSUN once again, and earned a Masters in Educational Administration and an Administrative Services Credential.

I began with LAUSD as a high school student and then, while earning my Bachelor’s Degree, I became a high school teacher assistant for three years. I have been working for LAUSD as a teacher for over 20 years. I started my journey as an elementary teacher at Fullbright Elementary and then, after earning my Masters in Spanish Literature, I decided to teach at the high school level, and worked at Reseda High School as a Spanish teacher.

I learned English as a second language during my four years in high school and that is why I know that any high school student is capable of learning Spanish as a second or third language, too. All you need to learn another language is being motivated, investing time and effort, and practicing as much as possible. I also believe that every child has at least one talent and one of my many jobs as a teacher, is to help them discover what it is. Life is about choosing a career, a trade, or a job that you are passionate about and doing everything in your power to achieve the goals you set for yourself. The sky is the limit!

I love teaching and look forward to working with students, parents, and faculty to make this a successful year for everyone.
