Hello VAAS vipers, these are your counselors Mrs. Torres, B house counselor and Ms. Palafox A house counselor, and today we here to talk to you about the importance of earning High School Credits. What are high school credits you ask? Well, students must pass their courses with a grade of D better to earn 5 credits per course each semester, semester courses earn you 5 credits and only Algebra 1 will earn you 10 credits when passed with a D or better. Still feeling a little confused VIPERS? Let me explain the difference... Middle School vs High School, in middle school, if you failed a class, you were still able to culminate and move onto high school, but that's not the case VIPERS! In high school, if you fail a class or classes you will not be able to graduate with your peers unless you retake the class to earn back the credit ... you don't want to waste your time that way. What happens if you don't pass with a D or better, you will need to make up your credit and you will not be on track for graduation until the credit is made up and you will be credit deficient. You do not want to be credit deficient. No, no, no, so what happens if you don't pass with the D or better? You will need to recover your credits by going to summer school ... nobody wants to go to summer school to make up credits ...you'll be able to attend adult school after school to make up the credit(s) or participate in an Edgenuity course or another program that ensures that you will get the credits for the classes you failed. 
What are the A-G Requirements? 
A-Gs are a sequence of 15 courses that are required for admission to the California State University system or University of California system. LAUSD is aligned with the requirements with the CSU a through G requirements to ensure that all graduates are prepared for College and Career this does not guarantee for your admission into the CSU or UC system... 
so let's review the A through G requirements: A - you'll need three years of History /social science - four years of B which is English,- C 3 years of math,  D two years of lab sciences that include your biological and physical science, E you will need 2 years of a language other than English and it must be of the same language, F you will need one year of Visual and Performing Arts and lastly your G requirement - you only need one year of a college prep elective and you will also need to complete your LAUSD requirement: four semesters of PE, one semester of health, your service-learning project and make sure you have career pathway! Well, I'm sure we have loaded you up with a lot of important information. So what are we taking away from this presentation? Pass all of your classes, earned credits to graduate, and don't forget to communicate with your teachers, your counselors, and other support staff on our campus!
