A-G Diploma Program Counselor
Hello! My name is Iliana Hernandez and I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful counseling team here at VAAS. This is my 2nd year at VAAS and I feel so lucky to be working with such caring and devoted faculty and staff.
I was born in raised in the San Fernando Valley and a proud product of the LAUSD school system. After I graduated from Sylmar High School, I attended California State University, Northridge and received my BA in Sociology. Post undergrad, I began my career working in the juvenile justice system where I found my passion for Social Work. I fulfilled my dream of becoming a Pupil Service & Attendance Counselor last year when I completed my MS in School Counseling as well as my Pupil Personnel Service and Child Welfare & Attendance credentials. I was hired by PSA in the fall of 2016 into the A-G Diploma Program. I greatly enjoy the work that we do in Pupil Services. I want to do my part to ensure all students are engaged, enrolled and attending.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, trying new restaurants, enjoying live concerts and dancing. In the future, I hope to pursue my Administrative Credential and possibly my Ph. D in Social Work.
