A-G Diploma Program Counselor
Hello! My name is Iliana Hernandez and I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful counseling team here at VAAS.
I was born in raised in the San Fernando Valley and a proud product of the LAUSD school system. After I graduated from Sylmar High School, I attended California State University, Northridge and received my BA in Sociology. Post undergrad, I began my career working in the juvenile justice system where I found my passion for Social Work. I fulfilled my dream of becoming a Pupil Service & Attendance Counselor when I completed my MS in School Counseling as well as my Pupil Personnel Service and Child Welfare & Attendance credentials. I was hired by PSA in the fall of 2016 into the A-G Diploma Program doing dropout prevention and intervention work. I want to do my part to ensure all students are engaged, enrolled and attending.
I am also the point person for military-connected students. Any students who are joining our school, who are military-connected, will be welcome by myself, the faculty and the staff. If you are a military-connected student or family, please feel free to reach out to me so that I may meet and connect with you.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, trying new restaurants, enjoying live concerts and dancing. In the future, I hope to pursue my Administrative Credential and possibly my Ph. D in Social Work.
