About Mr. McSweeney
After getting a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from USC in 1998, Martin made a life changing decision to attend the Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, Martin studied bass performance, writing and arranging. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Professional Music in 2004, he moved back to Los Angeles. For many years he was a freelance bass player and backing vocalist for original artists and cover bands throughout Los Angeles. He has taught instrument classes as well as private lessons for guitar and bass since 2005. In 2013 Martin started teaching elementary music at a local private school. Martin enrolled in the credential program at CSUN in 2017 and hasn't looked back. His student teaching endeavors included Walter Reed Middle school, and Monroe High School.
A lifelong musician, Martin is grateful for the opportunity to work in a field that incorporates two of his passions: music and teaching. Martin’s enthusiasm for teaching and learning is obvious, as he says, “it’s a wonderful blessing to have the opportunity to share my passion for studying and performing music with my students!”
