About Mrs. Evans
I've been working for LAUSD for over 20 years. With a B.A. in English from the University of Southern California, I started out teaching English at Valley Alternative Magnet (now Lake Balboa College Prep Magnet). I earned a Masters in Educational Administration and an Administrative Services Credential from California State University Northridge. After about seven years in the classroom, I became a Literacy Coach. My coaching assignment was split between Holmes MS, Sherman Oaks C.E.S. and Reseda HS. Since it was a temporary assignment, once it was over, I returned to Valley Alternative as an English Teacher & Intervention Coordinator.
Driving down Balboa on my way to and from work, each day I would drive past the construction zone that is now Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences. Each day during my drive I would think to myself, "I'm going to work there someday." I had no idea at the time, what the plan for the school was going to be, but I just felt like it would be a great place to work. The construction was complete in early 2011 and Valley Region High School #4 was born. By the time the school year began, the name changed from VRHS #4 to Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences. I started working here as an English Teacher/Testing Coordinator, then I served as the Intervention Coordinator, and now an Assistant Principal. As an AP, a few of the areas/departments I oversee include:
- Testing & Assessments
- Instructional Technology
- Device Management/Distribution and Collection
- Science, History, and PE Departments
- School Master Calendar
- School Website
- Weekly VAAS Family Updates
- Graduation
So, if you have questions or comments about any of the above, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected].
