Cross Country 

 

Boys Coach: Zack Rukavina

 

Coach Rukavina has just finished his first season as cross country coach here at VAAS. He holds numerous certifications in track and field and coaching.

 

Girls Coach: Justine Gish

Justine Gish is very excited to be coaching cross country.  This will be her fifth year teaching at VAAS, but her first year coaching cross country. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 2003 where she competed in Varsity Track and Field in the shot put. She has competed and coached all over North America.  Looking forward to a great season! Go Vipers!

 

 

 

Girls Volleyball

 

Coach:  Gabriel Islas

 

Gabriel Islas has over a decade of coaching experience. Coach Gabe is a volleyball coach who specializes in helping his players to overcome their weaknesses and develop skills that are useful on and off the court. He has coached at schools, park leagues, and club leagues. His goal is for his players to learn, love, and respect the game. Life is too short to not have fun so he encourages his players to have fun, build relationships and overcome obstacles.

Girls Golf 

 

Coach: Daniel Loscos

 

Daniel Loscos is entering his 22nd year as a Social Studies and Business Teacher for LAUSD and his eleventh year here at the Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences teaching World History, Advanced Placement United States History (A.P.U.S.H.), U.S. History, U.S. Government and Financial Planning. He approaches coaching just as he does his life, with lots of passion and energy. He enjoys the challenges each new day may bring and the rewards that come from successfully maneuvering through them. As a coach, he has an opportunity to make a positive impact on a young person's life on a daily basis. That challenge is something he values dearly. He has worked with golfers of all skill levels from beginners to experienced. Give golf a shot and he'll see you on the greens.

 

 

Cheer 

Coach: Taylor Peyton

 

Taylor Peyton has been coaching competitive cheer and teaching dance for LAUSD since 2003.  Ms. Peyton began dance lessons at And All That Jazz in San Diego when she was 3 years old and cheered in high school. Ms. Peyton moved to Los Angeles to complete her undergraduate degree at UCLA and teaching credential at CSUN. In 2010 she moved to New York City for a joint master's degree program in Dance Education at NYU with the American Ballet Theater. In 2011 she returned to Los Angeles and joined the first faculty that opened VAAS. The VAAS Cheer Team has won 2 Los Angeles City Section titles in 2018 and 2021.
